ASV Berlin II come from behind to get their season off to an unbeaten start against Kreisliga B newcomers Rudow III.
In what was billed as a potentially close game against last year's relegation strugglers ASV Berlin II and promoted Rudow III, it was the former that probably should have won the game. In the end, both teams will probably be happy with a point though on a hot Sunday afternoon in August.
ASV had the best of the chances in the first half, missing some excellent openings from set-pieces and generally causing problems with their high pressing. Their profligacy came back to haunt them after a lucky bounce put Rudow's pacy striker through on goal, where he was then clipped from behind by Ivanov. Kurucelik stepped up and put an excellent penalty in the bottom corner to send Rudow into the break ahead.
ASV responded early in the second half, with Argibay showing great footwork to make space on the left for a cross. The ball dropped to Volodin, who showed fine composure to slot into the unguarded bottom-right hand corner. From there on in, it was ASV who generally made the better opportunities - the best of which fell to Argibay. After more great pressing down the right flank, Skretzka made space for a cross and Argibay caught it on the volley, only to see it smash off the crossbar.
Rudow were mainly resorting to shots from range and long balls down the middle, but this nearly came off as Kurucelik got through again behind the ASV defence, only to be denied expertly by von Wahl.
There was good news for ASV, as they welcomed Südmeier back to competitive action after a lengthy spell on the sidelines. He played the last 15 minutes of the match and helped ensure a first point of the season for the boys from Moabit.
